Early Preschool Program at Curie Preschool

Our Early Preschool program is dedicated to delivering a positive initial learning experience for each child through our engaging early preschool curriculum. By incorporating hands-on toddler learning activities in language, math, science, engineering, art, songs, and fingerplays, our two-year-old children can develop at their own pace. Our carefully balanced program offers a full day filled with age and developmentally appropriate activities, ensuring ample opportunities for both indoor and outdoor movement. Emphasizing social and emotional growth, our Early Preschool program serves as a wonderful introduction to the learning process and fosters a life-long love of learning.

Our early preschool curriculum at Curie Preschool is thoughtfully designed to support the preschool development skills of our youngest students as they grow academically, emotionally, and cognitively. During this crucial stage, we engage our students in a variety of toddler learning activities that aid in developing their personality, trust, independence, focus, and problem-solving skills. The classroom is beautifully arranged to stimulate the child’s natural curiosity. Our teachers provide warmth, patience, and encouragement, ensuring that each child can achieve their personal best.

How do your youngest students develop science skills and knowledge of the world around them within an early preschool curriculum? By expressing natural curiosity in their environment, showing a readiness to repeat actions that have a stimulating effect, and engaging in toddler learning activities, they exhibit the need to continuously explore to make sense of the world.

Curie Preschool teachers support the development of preschool development skills through an early preschool curriculum that emphasizes STEAM learning. They provide a variety of hands-on materials, actively facilitating and joining our toddlers in exploration while connecting new experiences to what children have previously encountered. In a safe and thoughtfully prepared classroom environment, children are encouraged to explore materials that ignite their curiosity. Teachers guide the toddlers through these engaging learning activities, assisting them in the processes of observation, comparison, and questioning. The classroom materials are designed to promote exploration and experimentation, helping young children enhance their focus and concentration on the tasks at hand.

The materials in our Early Preschool classroom support the early preschool curriculum by helping to develop and refine sensory perceptions, motor abilities, and language skills. Engaging in toddler learning activities such as making and identifying patterns, learning to count, observing the weather, and discovering what animals and plants need to grow are integral parts of the Early Preschooler’s day. This crucial phase of preschool development skills emphasizes social interactions and fosters a sense of community. For many students, it marks their first experience in an environment separate from home. At Curie Preschool, we prioritize lessons on grace and courtesy, which offer opportunities for learning about sharing, taking turns, being patient, and forming friendships. Our planned activities and lessons are crafted to enhance coordination and independence, while also encouraging group interaction and bolstering self-esteem. Instruction covers essential areas such as math, language, science, geography, and the arts. Additionally, we focus on both gross and fine motor skills, nurturing a foundational understanding of the world around them. As each child matures emotionally, physically, and intellectually, the activities in the classroom adapt to meet their evolving needs.

In many instances, this is the first experience the child has of being a member of his own "society." The early preschool curriculum encourages children to be functioning members of their community, which fosters a sense of confidence and dignity. Waiting for one’s turn, sharing, and patience are essential preschool development skills that each child learns within the group. At this age, children also engage in toddler learning activities, mastering practical life skills such as pouring their juice, serving themselves snacks, putting on their coat, blowing their nose, and cleaning up spills (not to mention toilet-training)! The classroom teacher provides the tenderness, warmth, and patience fundamental for this developmental stage. An emphasis on the importance of a peaceful environment, along with the necessary nurturing and caring, are hallmarks of this program. Outside, children have ample space to play and discover just steps from the classroom doors. The Early Preschool program offers a nurturing and secure environment where young children can thrive and explore everything!
