Science permeates every aspect of life, and early childhood learning that emphasizes this connection is crucial for several reasons. It fosters curiosity and an exploratory mindset in children. MCS takes pride in its unique Science curriculum, which is both informative and practical, and is designed to complement our language arts curriculum seamlessly. 

Through engaging, age-appropriate activities, students will grasp new scientific concepts while enjoying STEAM education experiences. They will also engage in hands-on experiments and collaborative team projects. Our academic goal is to promote an intellectual learning style that encourages reasoning, predicting, and problem-solving among children.

Technology is continuously evolving, with advancements occurring regularly. Introducing children to technology at a young age supports their ability to adapt to future changes, which is a key aspect of early childhood learning. At The Madam Curie School, we are dedicated to educating children through a robust language arts curriculum that includes computer literacy, step-by-step logical thinking via basic flowcharting, music making, photo editing, online art, and more, all of which contribute to our focus on STEAM education.

Children can grasp the basic idea of engineering at a very young age, making it a fundamental aspect of early childhood learning. Even though engineering is primarily a practical concept that kids engage with through building blocks, solving puzzles, and observing levers and gears, it has been shown to help young minds draw inferences from everyday objects. 

Critical thinking is a vital component of our Engineering curriculum, which aligns with our language arts curriculum to enhance creative thinking. At the pre-school level, we use a hands-on approach to promote this skill. As students transition to Kindergarten, our curriculum focuses on preparing them for assessments like CogAT and NNAT, which are essential in county schools during the Early Elementary years (Gr. 1 – Gr. 3). This comprehensive approach emphasizes STEAM education, ensuring that children have a well-rounded foundation in both engineering and overall learning.

The Language Arts curriculum designed for early childhood learning may incorporate a variety of visual and aural comprehension activities, yet we believe that reading ability forms the most crucial foundation for children. In today's digital era, while the medium continually evolves, the written word remains central to our lives – it is still the primary means through which we share knowledge with the world. The earlier a child begins reading, the closer they come to accessing the vast sea of knowledge available to them.

Our Preschool Language Program emphasizes reading and listening comprehension alongside vocabulary building, integrating elements of STEAM education to enhance engagement. To make the course more enjoyable, we blend music, poetry, storytelling, drama, role-play, and other extracurricular activities into the program.

The writing component of the curriculum is dedicated to nurturing children’s handwriting skills by teaching them correct writing techniques and introducing them to creative writing.

For effective early childhood learning, a child needs to start early to develop both fine and gross motor skills. We have created engaging activities that enhance gross motor skills through exercise, organized group sports, games, and dance. Our group sports not only promote teamwork and team spirit among kids but also teach them essential lessons in handling victory, ties, and defeat. 

Our language arts curriculum complements our Arts program, which primarily focuses on improving fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination using various media, textures, and materials. Additionally, our Art curriculum includes Art appreciation, embodying the sentiment that 'A thing of beauty is a joy forever.' This holistic approach aligns with our commitment to STEAM education, integrating the arts into a comprehensive learning experience.

Since mere academic lessons do not shape a person’s character, we have designed a significant portion of our Preschool curriculum to emphasize the values of kindness, compassion, respect, and self-esteem among children. At MCS, our focus on early childhood learning includes incorporating perseverance, time management, and positive study habits into our language arts curriculum. By fostering these qualities at a young age, we ensure our preschoolers develop rich character traits. The values we instill prepare our students for elementary school with confidence, a positive attitude, and a passion for learning, paving the way for them to become natural leaders. Additionally, our commitment to STEAM education further enriches their developmental journey.
